THE FOREIGN POLICY MAGAZINE CONFERENCE: 20th Anniversary of the Dayton Peace Agreement

The Head of Representation of the Republika Srpska in Brussels, Mr. Mario Đuragić, participated at the conference organized by The Foreign Policy magazine in Washington DC in October. The delegation of the Republika Srpska at the conference was led by H.E. Prime Minister Željka Cvijanović. The renowned American foreign policy magazine organized this panel on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Agreement (DPA).

Mr. Đuragić spoke from European integration perspective, emphasising the relation between DPA and BiH’s prospective membership in the EU. He underlined that DPA political structure is fully capable of meeting the Copenhagen political criteria. Moreover, he added that the DPA political structure is necessary requirement and indispensible to the stability and functional governance required for the EU integration process and longstanding compliance with international obligations.

This conference was great opportunity for the Republika Srpska to introduce and present its standpoints concerning the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to speak about the importance of maintaining the current political structure which is established by the DPA. The conference was followed by many distinguished diplomats, academic community members and NGO representatives.
