Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Zeljka Cvijanovic spoke today with the Director General of the Directorate General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations at the European Commission, Christian Danielsson and the Head of the Delegation of the European Union in BiH, Ambassador Lars Gunnar Wigemark and their aides.

Prime Minister Cvijanovic reiterated the commitment of the Republic of Srpska to the European integration and acquainted the interlocutors with the activities of the Government with regard to implementation of the Reform Agenda objectives.

Attendants of the meeting agreed that implementation of the activities foreseen by the Reform Agenda proceeded in accordance with the planned dynamics and in that context particularly highlighted good cooperation between the Governments of the Republic of Srpska and the Federation of BiH.

Having agreed that submission of the application for EU membership was formally a positive step for BiH, Prime Minister Cvijanovic emphasized that the European path of BiH could be successful and efficient only if all levels of government in BiH were visible in this process in accordance with their constitutional competences.

On this occasion Prime Minister Cvijanovic regrettably pointed once more to the way the Council of Ministers adopted the Decision on the Coordination Mechanism which could not be a step toward confidence building in BiH and could not contribute to facilitation of conditions for more coordinated and efficient actions of all relevant institutions in fulfilling the EU requirements.

Prime Minister Cvijanovic stressed that the contested Decision of the Council of Ministers was non-existing for the Republic of Srpska and called upon all stakeholders in BiH and the European partners to start intensive consultations and agree on the coordination mechanism that would reflect the constitutional structure of BiH and be acceptable for all and to do so within the shortest time possible.

The Prime Minister particularly emphasized the constructive role of the EU Delegation in BiH in the course of the harmonization of the Reform Agenda as one of the basic documents of BiH in the European integration process.
