Minister of Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology pays a visit to the Flemish Region

Minister of Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology, Mrs Srebrenka Golic in cooperation with the Republic of Srpska Representation in Brussels organized a two-day visit in the Flemish Region in Belgium.

The goal of the visit was to get acquainted with the ways in which the problem of acidic tar in Flanders is addressed, having in mind that the Republic of Srpska faces the same problem in the Oil Refinery in Bosanski Brod and Modriča.

Minister Golic met with the leaders of the Flemish Public Waste Management Agency, who introduced them with legal framework and regulations governing hazardous waste management in the region.

Additionally, the Delegation paid a visit to DEME company, which has been actively working for the past 30 years with the issue of acidic tar around the world. Representatives of this company demonstrated the technology that has been successfully dealing with this matter and which hopefully could be used to solve the same obstacle that Bosanski Brod and Modriča refineries have been facing.
