Republic of Srpska President pays a visit to Brussels
The President of the Republic of Srpska Mrs Željka Cvijanović in cooperation with the Republic of Srpska Representation organized a thee-day visit to Brussels where she held a dozen of efficient and productive meetings.
During her visit, President Cvijanović met with Director for Western Europe, Western Balkans and Turkey of the European External Action Service, Mrs Angelina Eichhorst, Director-General for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Mr Christian Danielsson, the EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy & Enlargement Negotiations, Mr Johannes Hahn, Chair of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), Mr David McAllister, President of Košice Self-Governing Region, Mr Rastislav Trnka and Chair of newly formed political group "Identity and Democracy (ID)", Mr Marco Zanni.
On these occasions, President Cvijanović expressed commitment of the Republic of Srpska institutions to the European path, with full respect of the Dayton Agreement and the constitutional competences of all levels of government in BiH. She also stressed that all issues related to the European integration process must be addressed with respect to the principles and rules of the harmonized coordination mechanism.
Among other things, the meetings also had focused on the implementation of EU financial assistance to BiH, particularly in the fields of environmental protection, agriculture, rural development and transport as well as on establishment of economic cooperation between the other regions.
In addition, President Cvijanović stressed that the process of EU financial assistance programming must be implemented in accordance with defined procedures, and with full respect for the constitutional competencies of all levels of government and the coordination mechanism in BiH.
